There are several different factors to consider when choosing a roller including the material being compacted, the level of compaction needed, the weight the surface needs to support and how large your working area is. When you contact our team, they can go through these considerations with you, so you hire equipment that’s appropriate for the job. Keep reading for more details on the different rollers we have available.
Single Drum Padfoot Rollers
These rollers are lighter weight and are best suited to jobs of medium-to-low intensity. They are commonly seen on jobs that require compaction of subgrade soils for trenches, roads, pavement etc. They are also used on projects where clay and silts need to be compacted. The design of the drum kneads the soil so that air pockets are eliminated, making the surface denser and stronger.
Smooth Single Drum Rollers
Single smooth drum rollers are ideal for compacting non-cohesive or coarse substances such as loam, sand, and gravel. They are commonly seen being used to compact roads or industrial areas that are expected to withstand heavy traffic since the increased vibration and weight results in a denser surface.
Smooth Double Drum Rollers
Two drums mean that the surface is compacted at both the front and rear of the machine. These rollers are great at compacting fine granular materials for roadworks, footpaths, schoolyards and more.
Pedestrian Rollers
These machines work similarly to double drum rollers, except they are more compact and thus can work in smaller areas.
Mini Padfoot Trench Rollers
These machines are great in narrow workspaces, such as trenches. Because they usually take up all the room inside the area they are used, they are operated remotely.
Multi Tyre Rollers (Pneumatic)
Multi tyre variants generate vertical oscillation that helps them to level out any uneven surfaces. They are commonly seen being used to finish and seal granular soils or road bases.
